Arms race is a competition between nations for superiority of weapons. The code name for the creation of the world first atomic bomb was the Manhattan creation. Bombs were dropped on two Japanese cities. The cities were called Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The Soviet Union tested its first atomic bomb August 29, 1949. The major goal for both countries was to compete to have more weapons and greater armies.
